How To Treat It
- Ripe plums can be kept at room temperature. To soften hard plums leave them out at room temperature
- To store plums for longer keep them in the fridge for up to one week
- To freeze wash, peel, pit and slice. Freeze in a single layer on a baking sheet before transferring to an airtight container. Will keep for six months to one year.
How To Cook With It
Besides eating raw out of hand, plums can be used in a variety of ways. They're commonly found in baked goods such as cakes, pies, and tarts. Plum jam and chutney are very popular, as are sauces for desserts and savory meat dishes.
